Match Cards
Each team provides a roster with player names. No player passes. Ask players to verify their birthdate. Home team provides GotSport game card to referee. Each club may have a different version.
Teams and Spectators
Home team picks side. Away team gets other side. Spectators on the side of their team. (If insufficient space for spectators on both sides of the field, teams will share one side of the field.)
For U12 - no spectators behind AR.
No spectators behind goal lines. No noise makers.
Spectators, tents, popups, chairs, umbrellas MUST be at least 12 feet behind touchline.
Coaching only from within 10 yards of centerline (U12) and between center line and build out line (U10). Only official coaches in this area. Only official coaches may coach. Anyone instructing a plyer who is not an official coach may be asked to leave.
No dogs.
No alcohol.
Players
Must play 1/2 of game. Exceptions can be made if other coach and referee notified before start of game.
No hard casts or braces.
Religious/medical jewelry permitted if covered by tape or wrap.
Long artificial fingernails must be removed or covered by soft gloves.
Sneakers / tennis shoes permitted (if safe).
Home team wears pinnies or changes colors if there is a color conflict.
Referees
U10 one or two referees
U12 one or three referees
Send offs / Incident Reports / Concussion Protocol
Retain the game card if there is a send off.
Players that sustain any kind of head impact or injury are to be asked to leave the field. Do not allow the player to return if you detect any symptom of concussion including any loss of consciousness. Fill out an incident report (call the assignor after the game!)
Balls
Home team provides three balls.
Heat and Smoke
Over 94oF? Add at least one water break per half. Over 89oF and home is Natomas? Add at least one water break per half. Over 102oF? Terminate match.
AQI > 130 or localized smoke? Coach or referee may cancel game.
U10
- 7v7
- Minimum 5 players
- 25 minute halves. 10 minute half time
- Yes PKs. Taken form 8 yards from the goal line
- Goal kick from top of the goal area.
- No slide tackling. IFK
- No deliberate heading. IFK
Build Out Line Intent of this rule is to promote buildup soccer.
- Build Out line is equidistant from halfway line and the penalty area line. Can be noted with flat cones.
- Goalkeeper has ball in her/his hands? => Opponents must retreat behind build out line
- If the goal keeper chooses to hold the ball and wait for the opposing team to retreat behind the build out line, the opposing team must wait for the ball to clear the penalty area before they attack.
- If the goal keeper chooses to immediately release the ball, the opposing team may attack as soon as the ball is kicked or thrown (not just placed) , even if the ball is in the penalty area.
- Goalkeeper can not punt or drop kick the ball. Restart with IFK .
- On a Goal Kick, opponents must retreat behind build out line. Must remain behind build out line till ball is in play (kicked and moves)
- An attacker is NOT in an offside position if they have not crossed the build out line. Offside is not called in between the two build out lines (the middle of the field).
- Referee will delay play til opponents retreat behind build out line
U12
- 9v9
- Minimum 6 players.
- 30 minute halves. 10 minute half time.
- Yes PKs. Taken form 10 yards from the goal line
- Goal kick from anywhere in the goal area.
- No deliberate heading. IFK
