Redwood U08, U09 and U10 Playing Rules These Rules apply to U08 & U09 for Spring Play and U09 & U10 for Fall play. There is no U08 in the Fall. As in all Redwood CYSA games, players and coaches occupy one side of field. All spectators are on the side opposite the players & coaches. No alcoholic beverages or tobacco may be consumed or allowed near the playing area. Redwood recommended modifications to the FIFA Laws of the Game specific for U08 & U09 in the Spring and U09 & U10 in the Fall games.
Law I - The FieldFor U08, U09 and U10 fields, the recommended size is: 70 yards x 50 yards. (Must be rectangular. Maximum length 90, minimum length 50 yards. Maximum width 60, minimum width 35 yards.) The center circle will have an eight (8) yard radius. Four corner arcs each with a two (2) foot radius. Goal area: six (6) yards from each goal post and six (6) yards into the field of play joined by a line drawn parallel with the goal line. Penalty area: fourteen (14) yards from each goal post and fourteen (14) yards into the field of play joined by a line drawn parallel with the goal line. Goals: Six (6) feet high and Eighteen (18) feet wide or to Seven (7) feet high and Twenty-one (21) feet wide. (Redwood recommends 7x21). Penalty mark not required.
Law II - The BallSize 4. If both coaches agree for U08 & U09, a Size 3 can be used.
Law III - Roster and Number of PlayersDistrict 2 limits roster size for U10 teams and below to 13 players. This applies to Delgado and Redwood Playing Leagues in the Fall and D2Spring Playing League in the Spring. Redwood League does not impose maximum roster size for Redwood Teams playing in Redwood League in the Spring. (Adopted 2/5/2009). District 1 has different guidelines maximum roster size. Redwood League will accept D1 teams regardless of size. Games are 8 v 8 including the Keeper. Teams may be co-ed. If both Coaches agree, matches can use fewer Players than 8 v 8. Redwood League Teams will be limited to no more than 25% of the rostered players playing up in age level. (Adopted 2/5/2009).
Law IV - Players EquipmentTennis shoes are allowed.
Law V & VI - Referee & Assistant RefereeAll rule infractions shall be briefly explained to the offending party. Three-man crew with the diagonal system of control required. Club linesmen may be used.
Law VII - Duration of the Game25 minutes each half.
Law VIII - Start of PlayOpponent must be 8 yards from the center mark until the ball is kicked and moved.
Law IX - Ball Out Of PlayConform to FIFA. Ball must completely cross line to be out of play.
Law X - Method Of ScoringConform to FIFA - ball must completely cross the goal line beneath crossbar and between to posts to count as a goal..
Law XI - OffsideConform to FIFA.
Law XII - Fouls and MisconductConform to FIFA. All rule infractions shall be briefly explained.
Law XIII - Free KicksOpponents must be a minimum of 8 yards away.
Law XIV - Penalty KicksNO PENALTY KICKS. Direct kick in the penalty area shall be taken from closest point on the line defining the penalty area.
Law XV - Throw InOne re-throw allowed.
Law XVI - Goal KickConform to FIFA. Ball must come out of penalty area before it can be played.
Law XVII - Corner KickConform to FIFA except that opponents must be at least eight (8) yards away from the ball. |
